Free alternatives to Heroku for hosting your open source projects

Free alternatives to Heroku have been a hot search topic since they made the announcement above. I signed up there just a few months ago to host the drug dosage and purchase management app I was building which is why i received the email.
I just saw a youtube video from Brad Traversy on free alternatives to Heroku and I would be making a short post, trying them out.
